I intend to provide a practice CD and a table of contents for each of my students in the first session.

The practic CD lets you simulate your classroom environment when you practice at home. Just pop the CD in your player and set it on repeat 1 track.

Here’s how it works… Lets say you wanted to practice the first exercise on page 8, Well by looking at the table of contents that comes with the CD, you see that the exercise is the second track on the CD. So you set the mode of your player to repeat one track, and dial up track number 2.

When it plays,you will notice that it starts with some beats before playing the exercise. This lets you know what the tempo will be before you start playing. You can use this to start counting to yourself. 1 2 3 4 …you get the idea.

You will find that every practice exercise has a background keeping the beat. Play along with the beat, and the music not only sounds better, but you will develop that all-important sense of rhythm. At the end of the exercise, the music will usually just fade away and you will have time to relax and prepare yourself to repeat it. And that’s the way it goes for all the exercises from page 8 through page 27 of the book.
