Music Game

A note from Bob:

I have no commercial affiliates to my site except for the 300 page book. There is no adware, no popups, no subsidies of any kind. So when I recommend this little program to you, the only benefit I get is that I think this thing might help you learn to play a little faster than I did.

The link to the 300 page book is there because it has a lot of music theory and is backed by lots of support from the Jermaine Griggs website. You can find lots of buddies there and links to all kinds of interesting stuff.

Music Game

Jayde Musica is a skills and drills type of program. It shows a staff with one or more notes on it drifting slowly to the left of the screen. You have to name the note before it disappears. It has options that let you select the clef(s), the level of difficulty and whether or not to include ledger lines.

The game is a free download. You can play it forever if you like and it is a quality program. Maximize it to see nice big notes and make it easy to click the proper letter. You can use the numbers 1 to 7 to identify the notes, but I would be afraid of developing some undesirable muscle memory doing that.

I suggest that you use the mouse or a stylus to tap the correct letters. That way you only need one hand, leaving the other free to hold a drink or something. The stylus is a very efficient way to pick the letters because there is no mouse drag resistance.
